Low rainfall in most parts of India

New Delhi, July 9 (G’nY News Service): The weak phase of the monsoon is adversely affecting the country’s rainfall quota between June1 to July 7. Poor or no rainfall has additionally affected the country’s rainfall quota during the month of June. The country has recorded a -2% deficit in rainfall.

Central India is the worst affected with a deficiency of -5%. Other regions like east and north east India and the Southern peninsula have recorded a deficiency of -4%. Northwest India currently has a surplus of 12% as shown by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) data.

In Central India all subdivisions have a deficit expect Saurashtra and Kutch, Vidarbha and Chattisgarh. The maximum deficit of -32% has been recorded in Marathwada and Gujrat region.
