For instance, there are more than 200 lakes buried beneath the ice in Antarctica. Lake Vostok is buried 2.5 miles below the ice. Penguins are not the most abundant animals, but nematode worms. Also, Antarctica’s Vostok Station recorded the coldest temperature ever recorded on earth in the 21st of July, 1983, at -89.2oC.
