Revisiting inclusion in education

The Right to Education Act sought to foster inclusion in schools and to provide equitable access and education for all.

Abstract: The Right to Education Act, 2009 was implemented in the light that education is an entitlement and not an act of charity. The Act includes the provision of a quota for disadvantaged sections in private, unaided schools. However, a near-decade later no meaningful progress has been achieved.

The Gender Parity Index (GPI) is the ratio of the number of girls to boys enrolled in a given stage of education, such as secondary education. The index is used to measure access to education for females.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the intelligence shown by machines, distinguishable from intelligence shown by humans, which is known as natural intelligence (NI). The term AI is used when a machine imitates ‘cognitive’ features similar to humans, such as problem-solving and analytical thinking.
