Dear Readers,
Your rising interest and feed back is a source of inspiration for the team that shapes G&Y. I had a dream when I started this magazine way back in 2001, but now I can say that I can see the dream coming true. We are now subscribed by individuals even from Arunachal, Kavaratti, Andaman and Nicobar and Jammu and Kashmir. Thank you.
The current issue is dear to me for many reasons. The foremost is the photo feature on sea level rise and climate change. I along with my research team and camera crew visited the sunny islands in the Sundarban and sensed a rising panic among its inhabitants.
A little further off at Digha and Shankarpur, we found the angry oceans driving deep into the land. Here few villages have already been submerged. As scientists determine the extent of damage, my heart clenches as I recall the smiling faces of the many villagers that gathered around me in hope of salvation from the marauding oceans.
We have also attempted to improve the getup of this magazine. I hope you find both the look and the issues relevant. I, as usual, would look forward for your constructive feed back.
A happy and healthy 2008.
