Dear Readers,

What an unfeeling nation we have become. Imagine being away from delectable Indian food all day long, not to mention foregoing even cool sips of water, and still working in crammed office spaces. But just working is not enough—our ‘employers’ want everyone to be on tip-toes, scurrying about with sprite, as if fasting for days altogether won’t induce a zombie-like state of affairs! We have leaves for every aspect of our lives, how come leaves to fast are not in the reckoning. The Almighty too needs some exclusive time, even if it is unpaid and unproductive. After all, work can hardly be worship in the presence of belief and faith. Gone are the days that worship was part of the private space, of homes and families. We need to show that we are believers-better-than-thou, and where better than amongst colleagues and acquaintances.

Moving on, this regional development special is one of the most enlightening pieces of work that I have been fortunate enough to edit during my career. It sums the path of India’s progress in terms of development, as we understand it in the present context. The various features juxtapose India against the developed and developing nations and provide valuable insights in succinct prose.

A must read for young thinkers.
