The Carbon Cycle 2008

As increased amount of carbon dioxide trap more heat in the atmosphere, the average global temperature is rising: the Earth is now 0.6°OC warmer than it was 100 years ago. So far, two-thirds of the warming is taking place at night and a general warming is occurring mainly around the edge of the Arctic Circle. Some glaciers are retreating, causing a rise in sea level.

Abstract: The carbon cycle is the process by which carbon from the atmosphere, in the form of carbon dioxide gas, is circulated through the ecosystem. Carbon dioxide is an inorganic compound. It is converted to organic carbon compound by plants on land and algae in the oceans, which use it to make food, carbohydrates, by photosynthesis.
