<p>विश्व के गेहूँ उत्पादक प्रमुख देशों की सूची में दूसरे स्थान पर होने के बावजूद भारत को अपनी घरेलू आवश्यकता की पूर्ति के लिए गेहूँ का आयात करना पड़ता है। बेमौसम बारिश, बाढ़, सूखा, कीटों के कारण सड़न, उचित भंडारण व्यवस्था न होने से, इन कारणों से देश में प्रति वर्ष लाखों टन गेहूँ की बर्बादी हो रही है।</p>
