<p>Heat Waves are considered as a prolonged period of excessively hot temperature, accompanied by high humidity. Following states underwent this extreme weather event in 2016.</p>

<p>There are many communities living on the fringes of the threatened Delhi Ridge only lung space. The Delhi Ridge stretches over a distance of 35 km, from Bhatti Mines to southeast of the 700 year old Tughlaqabad, branching in different directions, and finally tapering towards the northern end near Wazirabad on the western banks of Yamuna river.</p>

<p>India is home to 18 Biosphere Reserves (BRs). The reserves are representative parts of natural and cultural landscapes extending over large area of terrestrial or coastal/marine ecosystems. Globally there are 621 BRs from 117 countries included so far.</p>

<p>Snowfall recorded in Kashmir Valley in the last few days has broken previously held records at some of the stations. The snowfall has been described as ‘above normal’ rainfall by Sonam Lotus, Director MeT Department, Srinagar.</p>
